Numerical Study of Pressure Attenuation Effect on Tunnel Structures Subjected to Blast Loads

This study used experimental and numerical simulation methods to discuss the attenuation mechanism of a blast inside tunnel for different forms pressure reduction module under condition near-field explosion. In terms experiment, small-scale model was explosion experiments (expansion chamber, one-pressure relief orifice plate, double-pressure plate). simulation, transfer effect evaluated using ALE fluid–solid coupling mapping technique. The findings showed that changed section diffuse, reduce, or detour transfer, indicating effect. attenuation, plate better than single-pressure expansion chamber. chamber attenuated by 30%, 51%, 82%. trend result generally matched result. results this can provide reference future protective designs reinforce U.S. Force regulations.
